Debbie's things to hit......
Debbie shares a few pics and words about the things she likes to hit with metronomic (so she says🙄) precision ............

This is the kit I'm using with the band atm, a Premier Artist Maple in a beautiful cherry stain, 12-13-16-22 config. I've got a 10" tom too but not required so far! Used to have a matching snare but it wasn't great and got moved on to pay for more interesting things. This pic was at Voltage studios when we recorded our first EP tracks.
Behind the kit at the first full live practise with the full band sound system and PA. I had all the cymbals out still working out which ones worked best for the tunes.
You might guess Sabian is my go to cymbal maker.

We were lucky enough to get the chance to record a track with some fab guys studying at Leeds Conservatoire (music college) - never had so many mics on the drums - total of 10 !!!

Here's my other red kit - a fully restored 1960's Beverley New Standard. Such a fabulous red strata wrap, I love it. Gorgeous little kit this, 12-16-20. Sounds lovely, but not really Rifters proof!!
The shells were made in the Premier factory for Beverley, 3 ply birch with beech re-rings. Makes it so light to carry about, the little 20" kick is no bother at all ☺️

All set up and ready to rock 🤘🏻😎, view from the drum stool for a gig at the Squash Club in Dewsbury.
Note the bass drum head - an absolute must for any kick, Aquarian Super Kick I - brilliant focused sound - no drum stuffing necessary!
Lol, DJ gives the thumbs up from the control room at Voltage when I eventually did a decent take of Sky Becomes the Ground.....not saying how many duff ones I managed beforehand 🤫

So I guess snare drums are a bit like guitars to drummers.....I've lost track of the ones I've had over the years and parted ways with after a bit. Only got 4 atm, the blue and red ones are restored vintage Premiers from the 60's, 3 ply Birch shell and beech reinforcing rings. Fabulous blue diamond and red diamond pearl wraps.
The red Premier was used on all the recordings we've done so far.
I've a got a matching vintage Premier kit in the blue diamond in cases in the loft!
The Mapex Black Panther Shadow though is a recent addition and perfect for the Rifters music - it's now the go to snare, birch and walnut 7-ply shell, 6.5" deep. Yeeowie!

Finally - my practise kit at home. Oh, guess what another vintage Premier. This time an amazing copper pearl wrap. It's a bit of a hybrid this one - the toms (got 12, 13, 14, & 16") are three ply mahogany with re-rings, from the early 70's. The kick is a 90's XPK birch-eucalyptus - and it weighs a ton!

The practise kit is in the spare room upstairs and you can hardly hear it downstairs with the door shut, so it's definitely neighbour friendly - Remo Silentstroke mesh heads and Zildjian Low Volume cymbals. Perfect!!
